Amaryst Parks-King

Peace Studies & Sociology

Amaryst Parks-King (they/them) holds a B.A. in social justice from Centre College. Their primary areas of interest include decolonial thought, Audre Lorde’s formulations of the erotic, and how contemporary groups of people are creating communities of care.

Through their dissertation research, Amaryst is interested in investigating how capitalist colonial culture disconnects us from self and “Other” in ways that severely limit our imagination, survival, and our joy. Their passions concern paths to liberation (especially for young people) and intergenerational spaces for growth, renewal, and change.

Amaryst is a Notre Dame Dean’s Fellow and a National Science Foundation predoctoral fellow.
