Women’s participation in civil society organizations reduces the risk of civil and international war. In this lecture, Dr. Gerring will offer a theoretical discussion of the reasons that women’s civil society groups promote peacefulness before sharing preliminary findings of tests that explore the relationship between women’s engagement in civil society and the rates of peace agreement implementation using data from the Peace Accords Matrix Project.
