Pathways to Inclusive Societies: Opportunities and Challenges for International and Local Peacemaking and Peacebuilding in a Turbulent World

Thania Paffenholz

Director of the Inclusive Peace and Transition Initiative and research associate at The Graduate Institute, Geneva

Dr. Thania Paffenholz will discuss opportunities and challenges for international and local peacemaking and peacebuilding in light of the challenges of today's prolonged and violent conflicts. While normative frameworks appear to be moving in the right direction, there remains a discrepancy between their objectives on the one hand and Johan Galtung's notion of positive peace on the other.

What does this mean for the future of conflict resolution and peacebuilding, and for societies on a sustaining pathway toward being peaceful, just, and inclusive?

This event is free and open to the public.
