Francisco Diez has been appointed as a senior advisor with the Mediation Program of the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies. Mediation Program Director Laurie Nathan says the Program will benefit greatly from Diez's extensive mediation experience in Latin America.

Diez is currently a member of the United Nations Standby Team of Senior Mediation Advisors, and previously served as the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina. He is the founder of the Mediator´s Network in Argentina, and served as the Carter Center's representative in Latin America before joining the Kroc Institute in 2014. From 2014 to 2019, Diez was the representative in Latin America of the Kroc Institute’s Peace Accords Matrix (PAM) program.

Asher Kaufman, John M. Regan, Jr. director of the Kroc Institute, welcomed the appointment.

"Fran has been an influential field practitioner and valuable member of our team for many years,” says Kaufman. “He was instrumental in establishing the Peace Accords Matrix Barometer Initiative in Colombia, which monitors the implementation of the Final Peace Accord between the Government and the FARC-EP.”

Diez holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University. He was also a research fellow at the London School of Economics and completed postgraduate studies at Maryland University.
