Congratulations, Peace Studies Classes of 2023

The Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies celebrates the graduation of its undergraduate seniors who completed either a supplementary major or minor in peace studies, undergraduate students who completed the supplementary major in global affairs with a concentration in international peace studies, Kroc scholars who completed the master of global affairs, international peace studies concentration at the Keough School of Global Affairs, students who completed a graduate minor in peace studies, and graduates of the Institute’s doctoral program.

“Through their commitment to peace and justice, our students are making and will continue to make a real difference,” said Erin B. Corcoran, Acting Director and Executive Director of the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies. “Their education in peace studies has equipped them to make consequential change in a complex and shifting world. I welcome them to our alumni community of more than 1,900 graduates, and can’t wait to hear what they will do next.”

During a recognition event on May 19, two students were honored with the Senior Seminar Essay Award, given annually to two graduating peace studies students who have demonstrated excellence in peace studies research and academic writing within the field of peace studies. Elizabeth Smith received first place for her essay, “A Critical Analysis of the Scope and Effectiveness of Restorative Justices Practices in the Cases of Sexual Violence,” and Jennifer Eburuoh was awarded second place for her essay, “Understanding Narratives in the Farmer-Herder Conflicts of Nigeria’s Middle Belt.”

Doctoral Program in Peace Studies

The Kroc Institute honored two doctoral students who have completed the Kroc Institute’s Ph.D. program in peace studies. The doctoral program prepares students who are fully trained and professionalized in both the multidisciplinary field of peace studies and one of six traditional disciplines (anthropology, history, psychology, political science, sociology, or theology).

The doctoral class of 2023 includes:
