Communications and Doctoral Program Administrator (temporary)

The Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies is recruiting for a temporary Communications and Doctoral Program Administrator to support writing, content management, and Doctoral programming from May 2024 to October 2024.

Position description – Communications (May – July):
Under the direction of the Director of the Communications Program, the Program Administrator will maintain the Kroc Institute website with current content and potentially generate and post news content. This includes but is not limited to updating and/or generating content related to:
PhD students on the market
● PhD dissertations
● PhD profiles
● Past MGA cohort
● Grad minor list
● Undergraduate Summer Research Grants with deadlines and previous recipients
● Faculty CVs, profiles
● Yarrow Award recipients article (news story)
● Undergraduate graduation ceremony recap (news story)
● Placing promotional item orders for the 2024-25 academic year
● Maintaining inventory of promotional items
● Updating newsletter listservs for academic programs and Visiting Fellows
 
Position description – Doctoral Studies (July – October):
Under the direction of the Director of Doctoral Studies (DDS), the Program Administrator will provide academic support to the Kroc Institute’s Peace Studies PhD program. This position will oversee all administrative and operational responsibilities of the day-to-day administration of the PhD program including:

● Assisting students in regards to the curricular requirements of the peace studies doctoral program and the graduate minor in peace studies program
● Fielding and tracking student funding requests for conference and research expenses
● Entering student stipends for the upcoming academic year
● Overall recruitment and admission process coordination, especially responding to inquiries from prospective PhD applicants
● Tracking degree requirements and progress and informing students of their progress to degree
● In consultation with the DDS, coordinating with the Graduate School and 6 partner departments on curriculum and verification of graduation requirements
● In consultation with the Events Coordinator and the DDS, organizing and managing student-facing events and activities including beginning of the year orientation and PhD welcome reception, and others as needed
● In consultation with the Executive Director, assist with planning and logistics for the Summer Institute core committee meetings
