Author: Jena O'Brien

Laurie Nathan, Mediation Program director and professor of the practice of mediation at the Kroc Institute,  led seminars on "the art and science of mediation policy research" in November.

Nathan presented seminars at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) and at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University in Sweden. The seminar presented at Uppsala University was hosted by Peter Wallensteen, a member of the Kroc Institute's Advisory Board and the Richard G. Starmann, Sr. Research Professor Emeritus of Peace Studies at the Kroc Institute. Nathan's input was based on a paper recently accepted for publication in International Affairs. The paper addresses the question of what types of mediation research are most likely to influence policy and practice.
