Mai Ni Ni Aung is being honored with the Kroc Institute's 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award. She is the founder of the Sone-Tu Cultural Preservation Project and the director of its sister organization, Sone-Tu Backstrap Weavings. Both organizations work to preserve and elevate the culture and traditions of the Sone-Tu Chin community in Rakhine State, Myanmar.
Mai Ni Ni will also have Sone-Tu handwoven textiles for sale in the Jenkins Nanovic Forum on through Tuesday, April 10.
This event is free and open to the public. Lunch will be served in the Jenkins Nanovic Forum following the lecture.
