Ana Garcia Rodicio holds a BA in law from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. She also earned a post-graduate degree in international humanitarian assistance from the universities of Deusto in Spain, and Oxford in the United Kingdom. She is a doctoral candidate at the University Institute of International Relations “Ortega y Gasset” in Madrid, Spain.

Her research focuses on voluntary repatriation of refugees, transitional justice and post-conflict and reconciliation processes. In the last three years, she has worked as researcher in the Project “Conflicts: Prevention, Resolution, Reconciliation” of the UNHCR Spanish Committee/Globalitaria in Madrid. The project was an international reflection process focused on transitional issues and reconciliation from two perspectives: juridical-political and psycho-social.

While at the Kroc Institute in the fall of 2005, her project will be “A Comprehensive Theory of Restorative Justice in Three Post-Genocide Societies: Cambodia, Rwanda and Bosnia-Herzegovina.” The research is focused on understandings on restorative justice based on each country's processes, experiences, practices, values, and perceptions related to transitional justice. It aims to reach action-oriented theoretical conclusions that will expose further explorations on the restorative justice paradigm. Gardia Rodicio was the coordinator of a research project on these issues in Cambodia in the years 1999-2000 and did field work in the Balkans in 2004-2005.

She has written extensively on post-conflict related issues. Her publications include the article "Restoration of Life: A New Theoretical Approach to Voluntary Repatriation based on a Cambodian Experience of Return" (2001) in the International Journal of Refugee Law, the co-edited three-volume Humanitarian Crises, Post-Conflict and Reconciliation (2004) and the article "Bosnia y Herzegovina: una vision top-down y bottom-up de la justicia transicional" in the journal Papeles de Cuestiones Internacionales (2005).
