The Sanctions and Security Project

The Sanctions and Security Project is a partnership between the Kroc Institute and the Fourth Freedom Forum to explore non-military means of enforcing international norms. Principal co-investigators are David Cortright and George A. Lopez. The project began in the midst of a dramatic increase in the number of multilateral sanctions cases in the early 1990s.

The project has received generous financial support from the Fourth Freedom Forum, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the U.S. Institute of Peace, the W. Alton Jones Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Carnegie Commission on Preventing Deadly Conflict, the UN Department of Humanitarian Affairs, the International Peace Academy, The Canadian Foreign Ministry, and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs.
