OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
AT NOTRE DAME

Please bring all of these documents with you
to Notre Dame, if not sent previously.

1.

Official final transcript from your undergraduate institution, listing dates of enrollment, courses taken each semester or year, and grades received. The transcript must include ALL academic work completed before enrollment at Notre Dame. If you have sent a partial transcript earlier, a final and complete transcript will still be needed.

2.

Official proof of award of your baccalaureate degree
or an approved equivalent. If the official transcript states the degree earned and date awarded, this will serve as proof of degree. If the degree and date awarded are not listed on the transcript, then you MUST bring your actual original diploma to show to the Graduate School. (It will be returned to you.) If you can not show proof of degree, you will not be eligible to receive the M.A. degree; the Graduate School is very strict on this. Bring your diploma with you if the degree and date are not listed on the official transcript!

3.

Official translation of both transcript and diploma
, if originals are not in English.

4.

Driver's license from your home country, and an international license as well, if you have one.

5.

US social security card
if you have one.

6.

Proof of citizenship or legal status in the US must be shown by all students receiving a stipend from Notre Dame. Without this proof you will not  receive your stipend.
     * US citizens: bring your current US passport. If you do not have one, you will need an official social security card (request a new copy now if you do not have it on hand) and driver's license.
     * Non-US citizens: bring your passport with F-1 or J-1 visa, your copy of the I-20 form or DS-2019 form (which must be kept with the passport at ALL times, including travel to the US) and the white I-94 admissions card which is stapled into your passport when you enter the US.

7.

If your passport is less than one year old, bring an official copy of your birth certificate.
In order to obtain a US social security card (required), you must show proof of identity which includes your birth date. This document must have been  issued at least one year prior to August 2007. If the birth certificate is in another language, an official translation in English will be needed.

8.

Official report of your GRE score.
If you have not yet taken the Graduate Record Examination, you are required to take it during your first semester at Notre Dame.
