Kroc degree programs are distinctive for their emphasis on the merger
of theory and practice in peacebuilding. For example, after one year of
rigorous coursework at Notre Dame, most master’s students spend the fall
semester of their second year working at a Kroc field site in Israel/Palestine, South Africa, Uganda, or Southeast Asia. During the internships, students collaborate with respected peace-related organizations on a variety of peacebuilding initiatives. They return to Notre Dame for a capstone course that draws on their field experiences.

Degree Programs
The Kroc Institute is one of the few places in the world where students can earn a degree in peace studies at any level — undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. Coursework addresses a wide range of issues related to peace, violence, justice, and human rights. Kroc faculty draw students into their research and challenge them to develop new ways of thinking and acting in the world.
