Joan Fallon

Director of Communications

Joan Fallon develops and implements communications strategy for the Kroc Institute. She is responsible for print, electronic, and Web-based communications that advance peace research and education and that strengthen Notre Dame's leadership in peace studies. She also oversees traditional and new media and public relations efforts that raise awareness and enhance the visibility and influence of the Kroc Institute and its faculty, students, and graduates worldwide.

Fallon joined the Kroc Institute in 2007 after a nearly 20-year career with Lipman Hearne, one of the nation’s leading marketing communications firms serving higher education and other nonprofit organizations. She developed communications plans, managed creative teams charged with implementing those plans, and provided consulting, research, and writing services to clients such as Brown University, the University of Chicago, and the MacArthur Foundation.

Fallon earned bachelor's degrees in journalism and Spanish at the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master's degree in Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of Chicago. She grew up in Latin America and began her career as a journalist.
