Peace research shows that wars and terrorist attacks are declining in number and in some cases in lethality. Is this peace? In a world of major financial crisis, environmental concerns, and the changing conditions of violence, a peace researcher and educator of 30 years reflects on the challenges posed by the real world to the meaning and attaining of peace.
