The Kroc Institute has established new field site partnerships with three nongovernmental organizations in or near the U.S. capital.
The new U.S. internship sites are:
Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy, which works to transform social conflict through education, conflict resolution training, and communication in Europe, South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East.
Search for Common Ground, which operates in 30 countries to transform conflict through media campaigns, mediation, sports, theatre, and music.
Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, which shapes U.S. policy debates by bringing together scholars and policymakers to focus on environmental change and security, U.S.-Russian relations, North Korea, the Middle East, and emerging nanotechnologies.
“Washington, DC is one of the most dynamic locations in the world for peace advocacy and policymaking,” said Susan St. Ville, director of the master’s program. “Our students can learn not only about the issues and organizations they engage with, but also how to effectively navigate this influential environment.”
The Kroc Institute also has field sites in Uganda (Gulu); the Philippines (Mindanao); South Africa (Cape Town); and Israel/Palestine. Most master’s students in peace studies spend the first semester of their second year in the program working for 6 months at a leading organization in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, or the United States.
