During the past decades, the forces of political transformation and economic globalization have created new opportunities for some and new threats to safety and security to others. Violent conflicts around the world threaten the lives of millions of people, undermining human progress and economic development. Post-conflict societies provide opportunities and risks for the private sector, which has become an influential player in many such situations.
Earlier this year, MBA students from Professor Viva Bartkus’ “Business at the Front Lines” class explored the role of business in post-war reconstruction efforts. Working with Catholic Relief Services, students met with business leaders and local officials in Bosnia and Lebanon to explore the impact of local and national business in these societies.
In this panel presentation, students will present their reflections and findings.
