Hal Culbertson is executive director of the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame. Culbertson joined the Kroc Institute in 1997 and was appointed associate director in 2001 and executive director in 2007. He oversees daily operations of the Institute, including finances, staffing, and programs.
Culbertson holds an M.A. in philosophy (1990) and a J.D. (1991) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an M.A. in peace studies from the University of Notre Dame (1996). From 1992-95, he completed a term of service with Mennonite Central Committee - Bangladesh, where he served as a program administrator for a large rural development program.
In addition to his administrative role at the Kroc Institute, Culbertson also teaches international NGO management and contributes to research and outreach projects focusing on the management of peace initiatives.
