Joan Fallon develops and implements communications strategy for the Kroc Institute. She is responsible for print, electronic, and Web-based communications that advance peace research and education, strengthen Notre Dame's leadership in peace studies, support student recruiting, enhance philanthropic development, and strengthen the visibility and influence of the Kroc Institute and its faculty, students, and graduates worldwide.
Fallon joined the Kroc Institute in 2007 after a nearly 20-year career as a consultant with Lipman Hearne in Chicago, one of the nation’s leading marketing communications firms serving higher education and other nonprofit organizations around the country and the world. She is an expert in higher education branding and marketing, in particular developing strategic communications plans; directing and empowering creative teams (writers, designers, photographers, web developers); and research, writing, and editing.
Fallon earned degrees in journalism and Spanish at the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master's degree in Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of Chicago. She grew up in Latin America and began her career as a journalist.
