Web & Multimedia Specialist

The Kroc Institute seeks applications for the position of Web & Multimedia Specialist . The person in this position will work with the Director of Communications in implementing the Kroc Institute's overall communications strategy. He/she will maintain the Kroc Institute's new website when it is launched in early 2008, developing written, photographic, and video content for the Institute's website and websites of Institute-sponsored projects.

This position will be responsible for maintaining an active, constantly refreshed web site. This will involve regular updating of content, researching facts and photos, revising web copy, obtaining permissions for posting material, maintaining consistency in design and editorial standards, participating in ongoing usability testing, and resolving technical problems (with help of outside technology experts if required).

The Web and Multimedia Specialist will develop content for the Kroc Institute Web site to enhance the Institute's image and reach out to internal and external audiences, including scholars, policymakers, peacebuilders, and Kroc and Notre Dame faculty, alumni, and students. This involves both creating new materials and adapting existing materials for the web. This work will be under the guidance of the Director of Communications, and will involve working closely with faculty and staff.

This position will also assist in other electronic communications efforts, including developing content and maintaining web sites for Kroc Institute projects, such as the Catholic Peacebuilding Network and the Peace Accords Matrix, managing e-publications, including e-newsletters, podcasts, and blogs, and editing video for web posting.  

A bachelor's degree is required in Communications, Journalism or a related field. As is: three to five years professional communications experience in areas such as marketing, public relations, and/or copywriting, preferably in a higher education setting; considerable experience in web content development and familiarity with CMS software applications and use as well as web design software; understanding of communications strategy and its connection to digital content, creation, and organization; excellent project management skills (organization and attention to detail) and writing and editing skills; an interest in international affairs and peacebuilding.
