The Challenges of Terror

John Paul Lederach in Where Was God on Sept. 11?, ed. Don Kraybill and Linda Gehman Peachey (Scottdale, PA: Herald Press, 2002).

This volume brings together essays, sermons, and articles written from mostly Mennonite and pacifist orienta-tions in response to the events of September 11, 2001. Written while Lederach was stranded in Guatemala immediately after September 11, Lederach's essay was widely circulated on the internet and is available on the Kroc Institute webpage. He suggests a number of lessons learned from peace initiatives where terrorism was employed as a tool of struggle and calls for new approaches to combating the challenge.
