John
Paul Lederach in The Fletcher Forum of
World Affairs, vol. 26, no. 1 (Winter/Spring,
2002): 91-101.
Lederach suggests that mediation in protracted conflict
can be understood as a process involving the creation of
social spaces between divided groups, as opposed to a process
lodged in the work of an individual or small team. In addition
to defining key concepts, he provides detailed examples of
mediation processes, drawing on his experi-ences working
with women's groups in Somalia.
