"History in the Fundamentalist Imagination"

R. Scott Appleby in Journal of American History, vol. 89, no. 2 (September 2002): 498-511.

Appleby presents a comparative analysis of attitudes toward history and the narrating of history on the part of sev-eral Islamic, Christian and Jewish "fundamentalist" groups, giving special attention to Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda. The article is part of a special issue dedicated to "History and September 11." The issue will be transformed into a book for adoption in college and university courses.
